John, I'm sure it's just an iPhone product. The way to check it is to go to http://leitesculinaria.com on your Blackberry Storm. If you see the site versus the image in the post above, you know it's a Mac-y thing.

The mobile edition is a feature many readers had requested. We believe adding it doesn't interfere with those readers, like yourself, who prefer not to use a phone. As you say, pen and paper work well. As far as the turn-off feature, all an iPhone user has to do is scroll to the bottom of the Leite's Culinaria page on their phone and deactivate it. Last, if you point your favorites to http://leitesculinaria.com, you'll restore it. It's no longer http://www.leitesculinaria.com/index.html.

Not everyone has, wants, or can afford a mobile telephone. The turn-off for that feature is not well-displayed or marked in your discourse. My favorite places icon doesn't work for your site anymore. I find this a bit unsettling. A piece of scrap paper and a pen do quite well for a shopping list. And I'd just as soon not be interrupted by a jangling phone at all hours. I hear it often enough at the office. All that said, it's a good job of programming and I congratulate you and Linda on that.

Melissa, Finally! I'm one of the cool kids. Glad you like the interface. Just wait until you try it. I'm shopping just so I can bring the phone into the store with me.

David,

You are definitely one of the cool kids with this new website and iPhone app. As soon as I upgrade from my vintage Motorola flip phone, I'll be quick to start playing with the new LC interface. The site looks wonderful and the writing, recipes, and quick wit as good as ever. You guys are the best!

I'm a MacMania geek, too. And as much as I hate to admit it, I had one of the first 1984 Macs as well. Aaah, the lightening speed of the CPU, the zippy little floppy drive and the classic look. I've gone through the whole series -- on to the Mac Plus, Mac LC (whoa, LC?), Quadra, Power Mac, Power Book and blah, blah, blah.

Okay, so I need to get with it on the iPhone thing. Looking forward to shopping with your portable recipe file. Very nice! Very nice, indeed!

Hi Terry, That's the great thing. You don't need an app--it's already set up from our end. All you have to do is point Safari to http://leitesculinaria.com.
