Ah...Betty Crocker. I was raised in a Joy of Cooking household. My best friend lived in Betty Crocker's world. I was so bummed about it, too. While my friends ate oven-baked pork chops smothered in a catsup-based bbq sauce, I was stuck with Beef Bourguignonne and the humor of Irma Robauer. No fair! Why did we have to be so different? Well, I finally got my Betty book when I left home and thought at last I'd arrived. Well, it wasn't all I'd imagined it would be, but her cookies were (are!) damn good, Irma I've grown to appreciate! Fun post!
