Irit Ishai is a pastry chef and the founder of Sugar Butter Flour, a bakery in Sunnyvale, CA. Born in Ann Arbor, MI, she spent her formative years in Israel, Paris, New York, and Copenhagen. While studying communications and government in college in Israel, she worked as head pastry chef at a celebrated Tel Aviv establishment, Orna and Ella. Ishai moved to California in 1999 and was named pastry chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant Manresa. She left in 2004 to start Sugar Butter Flour. She likes to spend her spare time with her husband, their son Daniel, and their cute golden retriever.
