About Johanne Killeen | George Germon

Johanne Killeen | George Germon

Johanne Killeen and George Germon are the James Beard award-winning husband-and-wife team behind the acclaimed Al Forno restaurant, which opened in Providence, RI in 1980 and is best known for being the birthplace of grilled pizza in the United States. They became enamored of Italian cuisine while working in Italy—Killeen cooked at a tiny restaurant outside of Florence, and Germon taught for Rhode Island School of Design’s European Honors Program in Rome at Palazzo Cenci. They’ve received accolades from nearly every major national publication, including the New York Times, Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, and Esquire. They’re also the co-authors of Cucina Simpatica and On Top of Spaghetti. @johanniejo
