Alexe Van Beuren | Dixie Grimes

Alexe Van Beuren is the owner of The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery, a grocery store and cafe in Water Valley, MS. The B.T.C. stands for “be the change” from Gandhi’s famous quote, and for Van Beuren, change meant celebrating local food in a small town. She grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia but now lives in Water Valley with her husband and two children. A native of Oxford, MS, Dixie Grimes has cooked for more than two decades in restaurants all around the South. She has helmed the kitchen at the B.T.C. since 2011. Under her direction, the B.T.C. has been featured in the New York Times, Food & Wine, and Wall Street Journal, among other publications. The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery Cookbook is their first book together. @alexe.vanbeuren @chefdixie46
