There’s one unquestionable way to stand out as a tourist in Spain. Order sangria. Natives, on the other hand, tend to gravitate toward an alternate cocktail that’s just as much a classic and known as Tinto de Verano. It’s essentially a wine spritzer of sorts made from equal parts red wine and lightly sweetened lemon-lime soda. As such, it’s slightly less boozy and much less expensive than that other, more commonly known (and, in our minds, equally enjoyable) Spanish libation. It’s not always on menus, but trust us, it exists.–Renee Schettler Rossi
LC Wine of Summer Note
TInto de verano translates to “red wine of summer.” We’re not going to argue with that. Nope.
